Oreo is coming!

THANKS everyone for your support in the Gypsy Gift contest.  With 15,442 votes, Kemmerer Village ended the contest in 7th place out of over 80 centers nominated!

Lexlin Gypsy Ranch in Tennessee will be giving us Oreo in late July!!  Oreo is 8 years old and 13.2 Hands. This makes her an amazing asset to the Equine Therapy program at Kemmerer Village. Gypsy Vanner Horses have amazing temperments; they are calm, patient and easy to work with. Her small stature will also make her a very safe option for many of the kids she will help. Oreo will be an fantastic addition to our herd.

Thank you to everyone who voted in the Facebook contest.

2nd Annual 5k

Some of the awesome runners that made for another successful 5K!

Thank You To All Those Who Participated In The 2nd Annual KV 5k Run!

Kemmerer Village hosted our 2nd annual 5K on October 17th, 2015.  The cold weather may have kept some participants away.  Those who joined us no doubt enjoyed at least the sun shine that morning.  Next year we are planning to hold the event in June and we’ll plan to stick with that timing for future runs/walks. Also next year we will have the course duration more specifically marked as we had some runners turn around before the 1 mile marker.  We were able to award participants who competed in like distances so the process was equitable. Jennifer Heiztman placed as first overall female completing the 5K with a time of 33min, 27 seconds. Larry Nichols was the top male finisher.  Thank you to everyone who braved the cold. It is great to have a new group of people out to see our beautiful campus and participate in a fun event.  We hope to see everyone in June 2016!

Kemmerer VIllage Inc. Announces Transition

Kemmerer Village Inc. Announces Transition

Assumption, IL – Mary “Lynne” Cleverdon, President of the Kemmerer Village Board of Directors announced the retirement of Michael A. Havera from the Executive Director position effective July 1, 2015.

“The Board of Directors of Kemmerer Village wishes to express our gratitude to Mike for his 30 years of unconditional dedication and stalwart leadership of this agency.  Under Mike’s guidance the Village has flourished in all aspects of its mission: from the number and quality of programs serving children and families, to the campus’ infrastructure, to the raising of funds needed to support both current and future programming.”

“Over the years, Mike’s experience and leadership have proven invaluable in facing the unique and sometime arduous challenges that occur in the field of Child Welfare.  Within the past several years, one of the bigger challenges has been that of stagnant or decreased State funding to the Child Welfare sector.  Yet operational costs rise each year.  These conditions underscore the importance of the agency’s fundraising efforts.”

“Therefore, I am pleased to announce that Mike has agreed to continue his affiliation with Kemmerer Village as the Director of Financial Development and the Kemmerer Village Foundation, also effective July 1, 2015.  In this position, Mike will focus his considerable abilities and efforts on fundraising in order to support the excellent work our staff do with the children and the families entrusted to our care.”
